A Sad Message from Martin Hoare

The Calgary Grizzlies and Calgary Rollers Wheelchair basketball clubs are saddened by the sudden loss of one of our long-time members, Ranjit "Rambo" Sidhu. Tragically Rambo was killed in a climbing accident in Canmore on July 29th/ 2012 at the age of 31. Rambo has been a devoted member of our organizations for over 10 years and a passionate and strong advocate for the sport of wheelchair basketball. Rambo first started playing after participating in a class demo at Mount Royal College. He took to the sport immediately and has been a respected and valuable member of both the local and provincial menís teams. He demonstrated speed, quickness and a strong outside shooting prowess. He was a team player and a leader on and off the court.  He always took the extra time to share his knowledge with new players learning the game.  Ranjit was very dedicated to the sport and he travelled world wide to support the Canadian National Wheelchair Basketball teams. Rambo travelled to Athens, Beijing Paralympics and Worlds in Amsterdam and Birmingham, England. Ramboís sports of climbing and wheelchair basketball were both passions for him and he lived a life full of adventure and challenge.  All with a huge smile on his face.

Ranjit is #7 on the right
He is playing with the Calgary Grizzlies in the 2011 Spitfire Challenge

On behalf of our Calgary wheelchair basketball community, we send our sincere condolences to his family and friends.

"Rambo, you will be missed on and off the court, but will always be in our hearts."

From the Spitfire Challenge we also echo these thoughts and will miss Ranjit very much
